Updated system for online design applications

Earlier this year we updated our system for online trademark applications. The improvements we introduced have also been applied now to the system for online design applications. This article tells you about the changes that have been made.

What has changed?

We have completely rebuilt the system for design applications in a new technology. As a user this will go largely unnoticed for you. The new system gives us more flexibility though to make adjustments and to be faster at meeting any requirements our users may have. The new technology also makes it possible for the system to be used on mobile devices now.

Other improvements

We have also made a number of other improvements, such as:

  • Adding views of the design has been made easier by incorporating a “drag and drop” tool: now you can simply drag your files into the window.
  • You can select product indications from DesignClass, the harmonised database for product indications. This database is constantly being updated and contains a wide range of possible choices. Use the search function to find a product indication that has already been validated in the HDB.

Our other systems will be updated in the same way in 2024. This will concern our systems for:

  • filing oppositions
  • reporting modifications (transfer, modification of name and/or address, designation or modification of representative).

Cooperation with EUIPO

This new system has been created in collaboration with EUIPO. Through BOIP and EUIPO's ongoing cooperation under the European Union Intellectual Property Network, we aim to better meet our customers' needs and simplify and streamline their experience across the EU.
