On 2 October 2019, Brazil will become a full member of the Madrid System. That means that, from that date, Brazil can be listed in an international trademark application.
Brazil has chosen to apply the reservations provided for in Articles 5(2)(b) and (c), 8(7)(a) and 14(5) of the Protocol. This means that refusals can be notified up to eighteen months after Brazil has been designated, an individual fee will be levied and it is not possible to extend to Brazil international trademarks granted before Brazil’s accession to the Protocol.
