​​​​​​​Important changes to administrative procedures for trademark filings, modification requests and oppositions

Commissioning the new back office system will improve our online services. The administrative processes associated with trademark filings, modifications and oppositions have been redesigned, making them more effective.

What changes will you notice?

  • There will no longer be a distinction between a filing number and a registration number. In other words, both components will be assigned the same number.
  • You will no longer receive proof of registration (certificate) and proof of entering modifications.
  • Upon completion of the registration process, you will only be sent a letter referring to the Trademarks Register. The register will always contain the most up-to-date information. A copy of your registration can be printed from the register.
  • Our new house style has been adapted to our correspondence. As a result, our letters will look different from what you are used to.

First step towards digital correspondence

In due course, BOIP intends to create a fully digital correspondence with you. Implementing our new back office constitutes the first step in this regard. Over the next few weeks, we will be regularly publishing updates on our progress.
