IP professional Antoon Quaedvlieg deceased

It is with disbelief and sadness that we have been informed of the sudden loss of our highly valued fellow IP professional Antoon Quaedvlieg. He was a member of the Benelux Council for Intellectual Property between 2008 and 2021, and chairman between 2017 and 2021. As a consequence, Antoon was always closely linked to our Office. We will miss him as an inspired IP lawyer and as a human being.

Antoon Quaedvlieg was Professor of Private Law at Radboud University in Nijmegen. In this capacity, he inspired many students and colleagues with his great dedication to the IP profession. He also made an important contribution to the development of the IP field in numerous other positions, including chairman of the board of the Copyright Association (VvA), representative of the VvA in the Executive Committee of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale (ALAI), and chairman of the BRIE. In his practice as a lawyer and as editor of authoritative IP journals, his value to our profession has also proven enormous.

His passion for intellectual property, his humour, warm personality and modesty remain in our memories. We will miss him and wish his loved ones courage during this difficult time.
