About IT

Our IT department is one of the largest departments at BOIP. With its 25 staff members, the team is well represented. Here is some more information about the department.

Colleagues

The IT team consists of a mix of colleagues who have been working at BOIP for several years and colleagues who have just started. The proportion of male to female staff members? Around 80% male and 20% female, and all of them have a passion for IT. The team describes itself as helpful and supportive. Team members are attentive to each other and to other BOIP colleagues. For example, the team organised a game night for all BOIP colleagues, which was very popular. A few IT team members play table tennis regularly. You are very welcome to come and join in, but be warned: all the table tennis sessions in the breaks over the years have been wonderful practice, meaning the level of play is high!

Sub-departments

The team is divided into 4 sub-departments:

  1. Support: receives all requests and resolves them immediately where possible. When this is not possible, the requests are passed on to the application management department. The support department also provides training for auxiliary applications, such as Teams and OneDrive.
  2. Application Management: handles all the user management of the internal applications we have built ourselves.
  3. System Management: a widely diverse department that manages hardware and software, monitors security and provides maintenance in respect of the various platforms.
  4. Development: the name says it all – takes care of development mainly. This includes the building, maintaining and testing of applications.

We also have a Data Analytics Manager in our team. He ensures that all of our data is clearly presented, carries out analyses and provides various departments with statistics. This gives us good insight into whether all our objectives are actually being met.

Teams

The IT department works in a structured manner. Every Tuesday morning there is a ‘weekly’. Here the projects the department is busy with are discussed, as well as any internal department matters.

There is also a ‘daily’ during which day-to-day developments are discussed. The development team works in that respect in 2 ‘scrum teams’: one team for project work and a KANBAN team for bug fixing and minor alterations. Both are ‘agile teams’, something they themselves see as a way of life. These teams develop almost everything that is used within BOIP and by our customers.

Great Place To Work

Logo Great Place to Work OCT 2023 - OCT 2024You have probably already heard that we are a ‘Great Place To Work’. Maybe it’s also good to hear what our IT colleagues think. What do they say? Generous working conditions, good atmosphere and easy-going colleagues. There are lots of celebrations, and the monthly BOIP drinks ensure that you get to know your colleagues from a different angle. It also empowers you because you have a lot of freedom for personal development. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Your career

How can you join the IT department? There are all kinds of ways. Our colleagues all have different backgrounds. One will have worked for years in IT and already having trained in IT, while another will have joined us via a traineeship. Traineeship is a very interesting option by the way. If you would like to re-train in IT, you can do so in a relatively short period of time. Training lessons are scheduled for a number of months and then you have a period of practical experience. You can do that, for instance, with us. If you like the working environment the possibility of a contract with BOIP lies ahead. It is a good way to do a career switch. Could it be something for you? Contact us for more information.

“Then you may do it”

This is a frequent joke in our IT department. If you think it's easy to build a new application, then you’ll most likely hear “then you may do it”. What do you think? Are you going to be the next one to build a clever application at BOIP? We would love to hear from you!
