Search the Designs Register

You can find all Benelux drawings and designs since 1 January 2012 in the Benelux Designs Register.

Benelux designs are valid in the three Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg).  BOIP registers and manages these designs. Registrations, renewals and modifications, among other things, are published in the Designs Register.

The Designs Register includes the official publication dates. You will also find the unofficial statuses.

The Designs Register does not include any applications (current applications) nor any registrations that have not yet been published. Designs that were valid on 1 January 2012 or registered later are included in the Designs Register. This means that in the results:

  • no designs that expired or were cancelled before 1 January 2012 are shown;
  • designs that are no longer valid can still appear, however, for instance because they expired or were cancelled after 1 January 2012.

You can find International and European designs on the WIPO or EUIPO website.

Search for designs

You can search for designs using one or more of the following criteria:

  • registration number;
  • name of applicant/design holder;
  • registration date;
  • class (Locarno Classification: the official international goods classification system);
  • status;
  • publication date.

After entering one or more search criteria, your results are displayed at the bottom of the page. Use the blue arrows to navigate through the various images of a design. Click on an image to zoom in.

Click on the registration number to see all the information available for the design. The detailed page shows the specific design details in the application’s language, with titles in your chosen language.

Search for publications

You can use the 'Search in publications' option to search per period.

Enter the desired period and the section (e.g. the Registrations or Renewals section). You then see an overview of all relevant designs. Depending on the section, you can view the design by clicking on the registration number or, for example, look at the modification details by clicking on the modification number.

Registration number

You enter the design registration number here, e.g. 35215-00.

The registration number consists of a main number 35215 with a sub-number 00 for a single application or a sub-number 01 - 50 in the case of a multiple application (maximum number of 50 drawings or designs).

You can also only enter 35215 here to see all designs under this main number, i.e. 35215-00 or 35215-01 and so on.

Holder

Enter the name of the applicant or design holder here. This can be an individual or a company name with legal form.

You can search by name, e.g. 'Janssens International BV', or part of a name, e.g. 'International' or 'Jans'. You will then find all holders with this word, or part of a word, in their name. A holder can appear multiple times. Select all names to obtain a complete result.

When you have selected a holder, the selection menu closes automatically, and you can see your selection by means of a 'tag'. The results based on your selection appear below immediately.

Clicking on the search field again enables you to select an extra holder. The holders that have already been selected are indicated in light blue. You can undo a selection at any time by clicking on the cross in the tag.

Registration date

You can choose to fill in one or both fields. This can be done manually or via the calendar.If you only fill in the first field, designs registered since that date are displayed.

  • If you choose to only fill in the second field, all the designs registered before this date are displayed;
  • If you fill in both fields, designs registered within this period are displayed.

Designs were only assigned a registration date starting in January 2004. Before 2004, there was only a publication date.

Publication date

You can choose to fill in one or both fields. This can be done manually or via the calendar.
If you only fill in the first field, designs published since that date are displayed.
If you choose to only fill in the second field, all the designs published before this date are displayed.
If you fill in both fields, designs published within this period are displayed.

Locarno Classification

The Locarno Classification is an international classification system for drawings and designs. This classification consists of a list of main classes and sub-classes.

In this field you have the choice of entering the class number directly, or searching by the product name, e.g. 'chair'.

Entering the class number or product name yields a list of search terms so you can select the term or main class or sub-class that is relevant for you. The search engine will then search in the main class and sub-class where this term is found. Your result will therefore be broader than the specific term, e.g. if you search for 'chair', the whole class 06-01 is searched. You can see this from the 'tag' that appears under the search field.

Click on the search field again to add extra search terms. The terms already included in the search command are displayed in light blue.

You can also combine one or more search terms (AND) or search for them separately (OR).
