We are pleased and relieved to report that our colleagues at the Bureau for Intellectual Property of Sint Maarten (BIP SXM) are safe and sound. They have withstood Hurricane Irma, but sadly their premises in Philipsburg are badly damaged. Consequently, the Bureau will be closed for the foreseeable future.
In accordance with the National Trademark Decree and the National Trademark Ordinance, the BOIP will temporarily take over trademark registrations for Sint Maarten as far as possible. Trademark registrations and renewals can be submitted as normal via the website (www.bip.sx). If you have queries, please contact the BOIP Information Centre by phone or email. As soon as the Bureau in Sint Maarten reopens, we will make it known here.
Our thoughts go out to our colleagues at the BIP SXM and all the people on Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba. We wish them strength in this difficult time.
